Meditation Benefits
Let’s get real: there are about as many meditation benefits as there are swooning fans of Riverdale’s KJ Apa (seriously, that accent is not even fair).
But even though they are seemingly endless, let’s dig into some of the key meditation benefits especially for people who are having a spiritual awakening, or want to strengthen their intuition.
Trust me, these will have you hunting for your floor pillow as you download Headspace.
1. Connects you to your Higher Self
Did you know that there is someone who knows exactly why you’re here and what your life’s calling is? Nope, there’s not a real-life Yoda. It’s your Higher Self.
And while it would be convenient to send your Higher Self a Facebook message, one of the best ways to communicate with that all-knowing part of you is through meditation.
When you meditate, you dive deep and focus in on yourself.
And because your Higher Self is the spiritual side of you, meditation connects you by sheer definition.
2. Eliminates Negative Energy
This is one of the best meditation benefits ever!
Just like our houses need periodic deep cleans, so do our energy fields.
Meditation is like Mrs. Meyers for your energy. It allows you to:
- Sweep out the internal cobwebs
- Remove yourself from the day-to-day
- Refocus on what’s important
Doing this kicks negative energy to the curb, raises your vibe, and invites in a sense of peace and groundedness that no nasty energy wants to be around.
3. Better Emotional Balance
This is important when you are on a spiritual journey or developing your psychic abilities (again, because it keeps your vibration high).
Meditation helps wipe the slate of past experiences clean and lets you see the world as it is today.
This fresh perspective promotes emotional balance and allows you to introduce your logical self to your spiritual self.
4. Increased Spiritual Health
Meditation takes you out of the overwhelm and allows you to be mindful and observe; it allows you to focus on the present.
By putting yourself in a witness state of mind (watching rather than interacting with thoughts), you start to come back to the present moment (also known as mindfulness), give your brain a break, and reclaim your spiritual health.
5. Strengthens Intuition
Intuition is the way the non-physical part of you (a.k.a., Higher Self/soul) communicates with the physical part of you.
It’s what tells you to not eat that hot dog from the gas station, what your mom really wants for her birthday, and that the stranger you just met is trustworthy.
Because meditation brings us closer to our Higher Self, it allows us to get more and more attuned to our intuition.
Bonus Meditation Benefit!
Another one of the fab meditation benefits is that it helps us gain better memory.
The next time you’re racking your brain to remember where you stashed your iPhone airpods (why is just ONE always gone?!), vow to increase your meditation sessions.
Meditation has been linked to improving rapid memory recall.
Practicing meditation allows the brain to adjust brain waves in order to reduce distractions (kind of how Brain.FM works, if you haven’t checked it out yet).
This allows you to recall information and continue focusing on the task at hand.
Simply put, meditation is the act of bringing awareness to your thoughts, breath, and self. This allows you to remove yourself from the day-to-day chaos and re-center.
Not only is this important during psychic development, it’s critical when leading a grounded and centered life.
How to Meditate
Obviously, you want to get in on some of those aforementioned meditation benefits, so let’s dig in on how to get started. The good news is, it’s easy, and you can’t do it wrong.
One of my favorite ways to meditate is with a guided meditation.
Guided meditations are a great choice for beginners because you don’t have to worry about focus or doing it wrong — you are guided through the process step-by-step.
Headspace is a great meditation app, but Calm and Mindfulness are also noteworthy platforms.

- Salt lamp
- Journal and pen (I highly recommend journaling after meditation)
- Cozy pillows and blankets
- Meditation (mala) beads
- A personal mantra

Some meditation benefits include increased intuition, stronger psychic abilities, and emotional balance.
It also boosts your vibe and rids your aura of negativity by clearing out old feelings and judgments, allowing you to have a fresh perspective. (So important on a spiritual journey!)
It also allows you to connect with your Higher Self and Spiritual Guides, and who can complain with those benefits?
