Mediumship Symbols
When you are just starting out as a spiritual medium, it’s normal to question the images, sounds, senses, or gut feelings you receive via your intuitive gifts.
I know firsthand that it’s enough to:
- Shake your confidence
- Make you wonder if your intuitive gifts are good enough
- Cause you to doubt if you have mediumship abilities
When I started, I used to wish that I could call spirit on the phone and ask why I was receiving certain information, and what it meant.
But of course, I couldn’t; long distance hasn’t figured out how to cross dimensions yet!
I finally realized that:
Intuitive information and messages from the spiritual realm often come in the form of symbols.
Symbols are like a secret language between you and your Spirit Guides, and with the right guidance, it’s easy to learn to work with them.
Creating a Symbol Book for Mediumship
Creating a symbol book to strengthen your mediumship takes a little bit of time, patience and love, but is a powerful way to increase your psychic and spirit communication abilities.
It’s also one of the best ways to grow your confidence and increase your clairvoyant ability!
Symbol Book Steps
- Get a journal – preferably one that you really love. You don’t have to spend a lot of money (I’ve seen pretty ones at the Dollar Store).
- Now get yourself some snazzy pens, or whatever you like to write with, be it pencils, gel pens, etc.
- Set aside 20 minutes to meditate. Don’t worry about being too fancy with meditation. Get comfortable, take some cleansing breaths, and allow your body to relax. If you want my pro tips for getting your Om on, my meditation guide can help.
- Next, invite your Spirit Guides in (they are the ones that will be helping you). Imagine inviting your Spiritual Guides into your life, even if you don’t know who they are yet. Then, trust. Your Guides are pure loving energy and are here to guide you, so it’s all for your highest and best good — always!
- Relax and allow images to come to your mind. Relax, and write down the first image that comes to mind.
- Write down what the image means to you. Earlier I said that symbols are like a secret language between you and your Guides. For example, imagine a yellow flower appears in your mind’s eye. Ask your intuition: What do I feel about this flower? Do you feel a certain emotion associated with this flower, such as joy; does it remind you of someone, like your grandmother? Pay attention to your body and senses, and write down everything you feel, no matter how simple it seems.
- If you aren’t sure what the image means, ask your Guides. Let’s say the image of a pink balloon appears in your mind’s eye, but you aren’t sure why. Ask your Spirit Guides what the balloon symbolizes for you. What’s the first thing that comes to mind? Write it down and trust what you are getting. Your symbol book is for your use only, so there are no right or wrong answers — how cool is that?!
Tips for this Psychic Development Exercise
First of all, allow yourself to be open.
Don’t worry about what you THINK you should be seeing, or HOW you should be seeing it.
For this exercise, I want you to go with the flow and allow yourself to trust. Yes, that’s right… give yourself permission to trust. It’s very empowering and will strengthen your intuition!
For clarity, here are a few examples:
- Seeing a flower in your mind’s eye could symbolize joy. If you have a clairvoyant vision of a flower while talking to your friend, it could mean she is feeling happy about something, or has good news.
- A flower appearing in your mind’s eye during a reading could mean that the person you are reading for is sweet, loving, and kind — or that there is a spirit coming through with those personality traits.
- A flower could also be a symbol for a specific loved one in heaven. For example, one of my students sees a daisy with her third eye whenever someone’s grandfather comes through in a mediumship reading. In other words, her symbol for “grandfather” is a daisy.
The possibilities are endless, but don’t let that overwhelm you.
Even now, after giving thousands of readings, I still receive new symbols sometimes (and I love it!)
You Can Choose Your Own Symbols, Too
One of my favorite things about symbols is that you can also choose your own.
For example, if you want to create a symbol for ‘wedding’ or ‘marriage’, you might ask your Guides to show you a white dove or bridal gown.
If you’re clairaudient, you may even want to hear the sound of wedding bells with your intuitive hearing.
No matter what intuitive gifts you have, there are thousands of ways to work with symbols to increase your psychic ability and confidence!
It’s totally worth investing the time practicing with your Guides and creating your very own symbol book!
