How to Give Your First Psychic Reading (Step by Step)

how to give your first psychic reading

So, you’ve decided to embrace your psychic journey. Yay, you!

You’ve learned some beginner psychic development tips and connected with your intuitive gifts. Now what?

You guessed it. It’s time to give your very first psychic reading!

Now, I know it may seem overwhelming, but with this step-by-step post, you’ll be ready to share your intuitive gifts with others.

1. Find Someone Trusted to Practice with

First things first… it’s normal to feel nervous when you start giving psychic readings.

Trust me, I know a lot about this!

When I started, I used to get so nervous that I secretly wished my clients would cancel their scheduled readings with me (or that a hurricane would whisk me away, either way).

That’s why I recommend you give your first psychic reading to a friend (or friend of a friend).

Calm beginner psychic anxiety by asking a trusted friend or acquaintance if they would like a reading.

Be sure to choose someone that you are comfortable with, that will be open-minded and supportive.

Remember: your goal is to practice giving a reading to build confidence — and have fun!

Got someone to practice on? Great, let’s move on to step 2.

2. Prepare the Physical Space

Technically, you can give a psychic reading anywhere. But taking the time to prepare a sacred space can ease your nerves and help you relax.

Creating a sacred space honors your gifts and the intuitive process.

Staying relaxed will allow you to go with the flow of energy. It will also raise your energetic vibration, which makes it easier to connect with your psychic abilities and Spirit Guides.

To create your Zen space, you can:

  • Get your fav essential oil going in the diffuser
  • Place your most beautiful crystal in the room
  • Light a candle
  • Play soft, soothing music in the background

Also, be sure to make your space open and inviting by clearing clutter before giving your first psychic reading.

Once your sacred space is ready, move on to step 3.

3. Name Your Intention

Now, it’s time to put yourself in the right mindset by setting an intention.

I always set the intention that the reading will be for the highest and best good of the person I’m reading for.

You can also write down your intention before the reading. This can help you visualize and manifest your intention, and carry that energy with you through the reading. It can also calm you if you feel your nerves kicking in!

Got your intention set? Great, let’s move on to the next step.

4. Invite Your Spirit Guides In

Now, it’s time to invite and welcome your Spirit Guides in. They are here to support you and give you guidance during the reading.

If you feel anxious as you give the reading, take a breath and ask your Guides for help. They are here for you.

If you haven’t worked with your spiritual team yet, don’t worry. Here’s how to get started connecting with your Spirit Guides.

Next, it’s time to center yourself with meditation.

5. Center Yourself with Meditation

Meditation is a powerful way to connect with your gifts, the energy of your client, and prepare to give your first psychic reading.

As you meditate, allow yourself to receive any intuitive feelings, images, and messages that come to you. Be mindful of these experiences and write them down.

Tip: You don’t have to spend a lot of time meditating. Even 10-15 minutes to center yourself prior to giving a reading is extremely powerful. You can also try one of these meditation alternatives instead.

Next, you’ll take a moment to release positive energy.

6. Release Positive Energy

When your friend arrives for the reading, it’s time to make sure she is open and ready for the experience.

Help her ready her mind and open her heart by asking her to reflect on her intention and desired outcome.

Perhaps she wants to feel more love in her heart, get a message from a deceased loved one, or gain clarity. Whatever her intention is, have her hold it close to her heart.

Then, imagine releasing positive energy into the room, and have your friend do the same. This will help prepare both of you, as well as the space, for the psychic reading.

7. Begin the Reading

Now you are ready to start! Close your eyes and allow yourself to tune into the energy of your friend (her aura).

Allow your intuition to guide you, remembering that your Spirit Guides are here to support you. As you explore the energy, share what you see, sense, and feel with your friend.

Don’t rush or force the process. Take your time and go with the flow of energy. Trust yourself and let go of expectations. You’ll be amazed where it goes if you just relax and allow the process.

As you give your first psychic reading, remember not to overanalyze or make moral judgements. Simply share what you feel, sense, hear, and see, without rationalizing the information you receive.

8. End the Reading

You will feel when the energy is right for the reading to end (I recommend that you keep your first reading to about 20 minutes or less).

  • Let your friend know that the reading is coming to an end and share final messages with her.
  • Then, thank your Spirit Guides and let them know the reading is complete.
  • Finally, blow into the palms of your hands to ground yourself. I also like to have a snack to help me get grounded after working with energy.

9. Reflect and Give Your Next Psychic Reading

Within the next day or so, take some time to reflect on the session and how it felt. Then it’s time for the really fun part: planning to give your next reading!

If possible, try to schedule a reading with someone else the following week. Keep practicing and building off of the momentum and good energy.

For your second reading, repeat the process.

Continue to trust yourself and allow your intuition to guide you. You will get more in touch with your gifts as you practice, and your confidence will grow. Soon, you’ll be a pro, ready to give inspiring psychic readings on a regular basis!

So, what are you waiting for? Use this tips and plan to give your first psychic reading today! You’ve got this!
