Your goal in all of these tips is to open your third eye so that you can start to receive visual psychic impressions and messages. Woo-hoo!
First, let’s get crystal clear on some beginner psychic lingo:
Your Third Eye
Your third eye (also known as your psychic eye) is an energetic spot between your eyebrows. It allows you to see things in your mind’s eye… Have you ever felt like you were watching a movie in your head? That was you, seeing in your mind’s eye. Easy, right?!
Your mind’s eye is where you’ll see intuitive visions, images, symbols, and colors as you continue down your psychic development journey.
Your third eye is ALSO a chakra. Chakras are energy centers in your body that help balance and regulate different parts of your body.
For example, we have a root chakra that controls our sex, hunger, and survival drive, and a crown chakra that connects us with our Higher Self and intuition. There are 7 total main chakras, and the third eye is our 6th one.
Just like The Beatles, all the chakras are awesome and work together. As a clairvoyant beginner, your third eye chakra is the one that you want to be sure is open and balanced.
Your third eye will help you:
- Sense higher energies (Spirits, angels, etc.)
- See auras
- Connect with your Spirit Guides
- See psychic symbols, visions, and images
- Develop your clairvoyance
Okay, now that we have the basic terms covered, let me give you 8 psychic exercises to open, strengthen, and develop your clairvoyance.
Clairvoyance for Beginners – Very Easy Exercises
1. Ask your Spirit Guides
This is going to sound soooo simple… because it is! Oh, and it’s also one of the most fun clairvoyance for beginners tips that you’ll get! :)
If you find that you’re having trouble connecting to your third eye, or find yourself doubting your clairvoyance, ask your Spirit Guides for help! They can’t WAIT for you to develop your clairvoyance, and will happily help you along the way. Their goal is for your utmost good.

2. Breathe Deeply
Another quick tip to get your third eye nice and open is to breathe deeply. I know, it sounds so simple! But actually most of us only use ⅓ of our lunges when we breathe normally. Yikes! Shallow breathing creates stress in the body and doesn’t allow it to be oxygenized the way it needs to be. Breathing deeply from the belly is a way to open and maintain healthy chakras, including, you guessed it, the third eye chakra! Plus, it’s GREAT practice for when you meditate.
3. Touch Your Third Eye
I know it sounds weird, but stick with me because clairvoyance for beginners doesn’t get any easier than this!
If you’re having trouble connecting with your third eye, don’t leave without trying this tip. Yep — right now! Our third eye is like a muscle that needs to be exercised. So, set your intention to open your third eye, and then take your finger and touch right between your brows.
- Gently hold your finger on your third eye and imagine it activating.
- Lightly move your finger in a circular motion while imagining your psychic eye opening.
- Lightly tap the area and imagine “activating” it. (Personally, this is my favorite method.)
BTW: If you start to feel some tingling in the area while you’re doing this, don’t worry — it’s totally normal. That means you’re third eye is activating. Yay!
4. Diffuse Essential Oils
If you’re looking for an easy way to wake up your third eye, look no further! This simple tip will have you visualizing like a pro in no time — plus it’s easy peasy.
All you need to do is introduce some essential oils into your life. You’ve probably seen all kinds of posts about essential oils lately — they’re everywhere, and for good reason. Some of these powerful concentrations of plants help us tune into our Higher Self and open our psychic abilities.
While you’re going about your day, try a few drops of Myrrh, Sandalwood, Chamomile, or a nice combination of them into your essential oil diffuser. You can also try placing a DROP of one on your third eye. Just pretty please don’t get it in your actual eyeballs!

5. Use Crystals
Clairvoyance relies on your third eye chakra being open. One of my favorite ways to work on my third eye is to use crystals. Not only are they beautiful eye candy, their energetic properties are SO powerful.
Plus, you can use crystals in lots of cool ways to support your clairvoyance:
- Sleep with one near your pillow for psychic dreams.
- Place one on your third eye during meditation for intensive clarity.
- Keep one in your pocket when you’re out and about to ward off negative energies.
- Make a crystal grid and put it under your bed for deeper sleep and overall intuitive development.
Choosing a Crystal
You can use any crystal that calls out to you, but some of my favorites are Amethyst (that gorgeous purple one you’ve probably seen jewelry made from), quartz, and iolite. If you’re not sure which one to pick, head to a local shop and wander around — you will likely feel drawn to one or more.

Visualization is the holy grail of your clairvoyant development — and lots of fun with this exercise:
Imagine you’re at a concert with your best friends. You can see Jason Aldean shakin’ his booty on stage, the sun setting in the sky, everyone around you jumping up and down, and your boots stomping to the beat on the grass. Keep visualizing your dreamy scene with the intent of opening your third eye chakra and improving your clairvoyant abilities. You can switch your scenes around as you get better and better so you’ll always have fun while strengthening your psychic gift.
Clairvoyance for Beginners – Advanced Exercises
7. Use Zener Cards
Okay, this tip is super fun and requires you to call up your BFF — how could you go wrong? First, grab your bestie and a pack of Zener cards. The goal for this is to transmit the image you see on the card (they’re all different shapes like stars, squares, and circles) to your friend… without talking or showing her the card. It’s like mental texting!
Zener Card Exercise:
- Once you draw your card, close your eyes and picture the image on the card in your mind’s eye. Now, imagine psychically sending the image to your friend’s mind’s eye (the area between her eyebrows).
- If it’s helpful, imagine there are invisible “waves” transmitting the image into your friend’s third eye.
- Hold the image for 10 seconds if you can, then ask your friend what they received!
Next, take a turn being the “receiver”:
- Take a few deep breaths and focus your energy on your third eye.
- Give yourself permission to receive whatever image comes your way. Don’t second guess yourself! Allow allow an image of a circle, square, square, plus sign, or wavy lines to form in your mind.
- Allow your mind to be free and clear during this time. It’s not the time to wonder or evaluate if you’re really clairvoyant (you are).
Pro tip: don’t worry if you dissolve into laughter the first few times trying this. It’s all part of the journey! Plus, laughing helps raise your vibe and makes you more intuitive!
8. Use Your Imagination
In order to receive psychic visions your imagination has to be on point!
Start by calling to mind a gorgeous, yummy basket of blueberries. Hold the image in your mind and picture their different shades of blue. Now that you have it in your mind’s eye, imagine sitting on a red and white blanket, snacking on the blueberries.
Once you’ve done that, cooking the berries, then pouring them into a pie crust. In each instance, hold the imagination in your mind until you can see all the details. This exercise helps build your clairvoyant muscles and allows you to be ready to receive visual messages and impressions.
